Aladdin (near BBQ chicken and BofA)

Mohammed was a nice guy... He said he will make the special gyro (read year-o, NOT jay-ro) fried rice that is the favorite of his Indonesian customers. As it turned out, it was a special fried rice... pretty darn good! The gyro was awesome too. You guys should come here if you've never been. Seriously.

Overall: 4 stars

Seven Star Pepper Szechuan

Ordered: Scallion pancake and Hand-shaven tan tan noodle

Review: The scallion pancake was our favorite! Crispy, tasty, and cheap. I like the tan-tan noodle too. It has great texture (you would think that the noodle would be tough, but it was quite soft with enough bite to it), the soup was thick and sesame-based (nutty flavor). If you like meat, you probably think that the meat was lacking. But honestly, you don't need the pork in there.

Overall: 3.5 stars

SRW Series - Taberna del Alabardero

Went to this restaurant for lunch with Yup and Fefe.
Ordered:
App:
Broken egg with mushroom and fried potato - Ah-mazingg! I just loved it and the gals loved it too. The fried egg was still runny, the mushroom and onion had great seasoning, and the fired potato gave it a nice texture.
Smoked salmon salad with mango - Blah. It was pretty bad. Rather bland too be honest.

Entree:
Seared tuna steak - it was pretty good, but was overshadowed by the pork chop.
Pork chop with bleu cheese - the porch chop was soooo tender! Not too mention juicy and tasty. Every single thing on  the plate was superb. Will come again only for this.

Dessert:
Fried custard with cola reduction sauce - it was good, tasted like churros.
Flan with berry sauce - this one was also pretty good, but nothing surprising.

Overall: 4 stars out of 5.

Seattle Restaurant Week Series - Mistral Kitchen

Yup and I went there expecting to order the menu they listed on the SRW web. Unfortunately, their SRW menu when we came in was different (and less) that the one on the net... we felt cheated! Anyways, here's what I got:

App:
Pea Soup (the only choice) - it was awful at first 'cos I hate basil and the soup was very basil-y. But over time, it was okay.

Entree:
Roasted Chicken with farro - the chicken was great! Very tasty and succulent. But the farro was a tad too sweet (they might have used molasses in their sauce).
Wood-fire pizza with tomato, basil, and mozzarela - it was great, but not better than Tuta Bella for Italian pizzas.

Dessert:
Coffee ice cream sandwich - the coffee flavor was super strong that it masked other flavors on the dish.
Lemon tres leches with berry sorbet - this dessert is ah-mazingg! The lemon cake was drenched in milk and the sorbet was tangy. I gotta say that this was the highlight of the trip.

Overall: I would give them 3 stars out of 5.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Ordered:
1 regular five guys style fries with Cajun seasoning on the side
1 bacon cheeseburger w/ grilled mushroom, grilled onion, mayo and A1 sauce
1 little bacon burger w/ grilled mushroom, grilled onion and mayo

Review:
Fries - not sure why they won some award for their fries, but the five guys style (basically natural cut) didn't have any taste, we added the Cajun seasoning, salt and pepper and it tasted better. I'll say they have decent fries

Burger - delicious tasty juicy burger (the juice basically drips from the burger to your hands............ and your pants if you're not alert!). You can add any toppings (ALL TOPPINGS FREE) you want on top of your burger. The burger comes with 2 patties while the little burger comes with 1.

Price - decent price, $5++ for most burgers, $3++ for little burgers, around $3 for regular size fries which can serve up to 2 people.

Red Mill Burgers

Me, Yuping, and D-squared (Dian and Devina) went to Red Mill Burgers (http://www.redmillburgers.com/) today. I got the Verde burger (Fire Roasted Anaheim Peppers, Jack Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Mill Sauce) and it tasted delish! The burger was juicy, and the sauce made it tasty. But the best part was the buns (this coming from me who usually avoid carbs)! The buns were not just simple burger buns, but they used the-slightly-crispier Kaiser bun. I tasted  Yuping's burger, but to be honest it tasted similar to mine...so no further comment there.

This wasn't my first trip to Red Mill. The first time I was there, I also got creamsicle shakes - which was super good, but also too sweet for me (not to mention it was also too sinful).

Once upon a time...

My good friends, Felicia and Jesen, told me that I might as well write a blog about foods and restaurants in Seattle since I like to eat out and comment about it. I brushed that idea aside, figuring that I won't be able to maintain such a thing... until we keep discussing about foods and restaurants we've visited via our Blackberry Messengers. So, here it is...
